Fiorentina Open Opportunity To Loan Lazio Target This Summer

Fiorentina has reportedly opened up the opportunity to loan Jose Callejon this summer, with Lazio a possible destination for the player.

As reported by Italian newspaper La Nazione on Wednesday (21/07) morning local time, Fiorentina does not consider Jose Callejon a key player in Vincenzo Italiano's squad and wants to release the 34-year-old player who is one of the highest-paid players in Florence.

That's why La Viola opened up the opportunity to loan Callejon this summer, the Spanish player's contract will expire next year in 2022. While a few weeks ago Lazio approached the 34-year-old because he was impressed with his tactical flexibility and knowledge of the 4-3-3 system applied by the new coach, Maurizio Sarri.

The Spaniard has become one of the most affordable options for the Biancoceleste this summer although the capital club still has to work out its liquidity ratio issues before they can secure the services of a new player.

Callejon made 20 Serie A appearances last season, playing 654 minutes in total, during which time he contributed one assist and started just six times throughout the 2020/21 season.

Callejon is usually positioned as a striker or winger starting his career with the Real Madrid reserve team before he made his name known at Espanyol, 2011 he returned to his old club, and two years later he left for Napoli where he won two Coppa Italias and the Italian Super Cup in 2014  by making 349 appearances and scoring 82 goals in all competitions for Il Partenopei.
