Bonucci Claims Lazio Could Be A Threat With Maurizio Sarri

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is cautious of Lazio being coached by Maurizio Sarri next season.  The 62-year-old coach has previously coached big teams such as Juventus, Napoli, and Chelsea.

34-year-old Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci discussed the title race next season and which teams have the chance to win the Scudetto in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

"Inter still has a chance because they are the defending champions even without Lukaku and Hakimi," he said.

“With Sarri, Lazio will be a threat and be wary of Mourinho's team, Roma."

"AC Milan has bought players who fit their project, it will be a good season."

Maurizio Sarri has worked hard with the Lazio squad throughout this pre-season by starting the pre-season training session at Auronzo di Cadore for three weeks and continuing with the training session in Marienfeld, Germany.

The ex-Juventus and Napoli coach is still not completely convinced of his squad's progress so far so starting this season's campaign is likely to be a bit inconsistent although this is not unusual for his team.

The Biancoceleste's opening match this season will begin with an away match against promoted team Empoli on Sunday (21/08) evening local time.  It will be an interesting reunion for the 62-year-old coach who spent three years in charge of the Empoli squad from 2012 to 2015.
