Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile is eyeing his fourth Capocannoniere title of the 2021/22 season and he is looking to match Gunnar Nordahl's record of five top goalscorers in Serie A. The Italian international started with a penalty against Empoli on Saturday (21/08) night local time.

According to the news reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile started when Maurizio Sarri's team faced Empoli in the Serie A opener which took place Saturday (21/08) evening local time and the 31-year-old player carried out his duties very well.  He helped the Italian capital club to a 3-1 win over the hosts.

Immobile along with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo are among the favorites to claim the title of top goalscorer in Serie A and are expected to compete with Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan.

The Biancoceleste striker has won the Capocannoniere title three times, once with Torino and twice with The Aquile.  The 31-year-old is looking to match Nordahl's record of winning the title five times.

Immobile made good use of his chances as his side beat Empoli in their first Serie A match by scoring a goal from the penalty spot in the 41st minute which helped Maurizio Sarri's side take the perfect three points back to the Italian capital.  Last season he also scored in the opener against Cagliari.
