Bye Lazio And Salernitana, David Luiz Chooses To Join Flamengo


David Luiz will not join Lazio or Salernitana after reports compiled from various sources revealed that the defender has agreed on personal terms with Brazilian club Flamengo.


Lazio and Salernitana will certainly be without the services of targeted veteran defender David Luiz after it was reported he had agreed to join Flamengo.  The center-back is currently on a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal expired.


Previously he was reluctant to return to play in his home country and hoped to continue his career in Europe but was not convinced by the offers that had come to him.  The 34-year-old has been linked with two Serie A clubs, promoted Salernitana with whom he will be team-mates, Franck Ribery and the Biancoceleste, he could team up again with his former Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri.


In addition, the defender's services are also in demand by Benfica, Real Madrid, and Turkish club Adana Demirspor.  However, it seems that David Luiz has made his choice and will join Flamengo in the next 24 hours as reported by Football-Italia.


His contract with the Rio de Janeiro-based club runs until December 2022. He has made 57 caps for the Samba senior team, scoring three goals and his previous clubs include Vitoria, Benfica, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.  While with his last club, Arsenal he has made 73 appearances and contributed four goals in all competitions during his two-year contract.
