September 27, 2021

Lazio came out victorious in the first derby della Capitale of the season.  The Eagle won 3-2 over AS Roma.

Lazio took a quick lead over AS Roma in the match at the Olimpico, Sunday (26/9/2021) night.  Sergej Milinkovic-Savic put his team ahead in the 10th minute.

Pedro Rodriguez doubled Lazio's lead in the 19th minute.  Roger Ibanez narrowed the gap in the 41st minute.  Score 2-1 lasted until halftime.

AS Roma and Lazio started the second half with high attack intensity.  Both teams had several opportunities that failed to bear fruit in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

In the 63rd minute, Felipe Anderson managed to restore Lazio's two-goal advantage.  The Brazilian player completed the counter-attack that was started by Ciro Immobile.

Five minutes later, AS Roma got a controversial penalty after Zaniolo was tripped over in the inside box.  Jordan Veretout, who came forward as an executioner, managed to carry out his duties well and brought AS Roma back to minimize the gap.

After the goal, AS Roma increasingly aggressively suppressed Lazio's backline.  The Giallorossi had a chance to get a pair of chances through Zaniolo and Eldor Shomurudov which Reina could still save well.

Despite continuing to attack, AS Roma failed to score their third goal and the score was 3-2 unchanged until the referee dismissed the match.  This victory makes Lazio have the right to sit in sixth place in the Italian League standings with 11 points, only one point away from AS Roma who occupies the fourth position.
