Immobile Just One Step Away From Breaking Lazio Legend's Record

Lazio striker, Ciro Immobile is one step away from breaking the record for club legend Silvio Piola as the all-time top goalscorer.  Although he still wasn't able to do it when his team beat Fiorentina on Wednesday (27/10) evening local time, the 31-year-old still has plenty of opportunities to do so this season.

As reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, 31-year-old Italian striker Ciro Immobile has so far scored 158 goals for Lazio since joining in 2016 and he is only one goal behind Silvio Piola who is the all-time top scorer in that Italian capital club.

Immobile had his chance against Fiorentina on Wednesday evening local time, having netted five goals against La Viola in his career.  However, he did not manage to add to his tally in the Biancoceleste's win over Vincenzo Italiano's side, Pedro's only goal for the hosts.

The 31-year-old striker has continued to be a key player in the Aquile squad since joining the club five years ago and he won the European Golden Boot after netting 36 goals in the 2019/20 Serie A season.

Immobile has scored eight goals in eight Serie A appearances so far in the 2021/22 season and has adapted well to Maurizio Sarri's system.

The Biancoceleste managed to return to winning ways after a crushing 4-1 defeat to Hellas Verona last weekend, they managed to secure a perfect point against Fiorentina on Wednesday night local time at the Stadio Olimpico.
