Ciro Immobile, Lazio's All-Time Top Goal Scorer

Lazio may not win at the home of Atalanta.  But the captain, Ciro Immobile, managed to set the record.

Visiting the Gewiss Stadium, Saturday (30/10/2021) Lazio drew 2-2.  Had the lead through goals from Pedro and Ciro Immobile, they failed to maintain their lead.

Duvan Zapata scored the equalizer at the end of the first half.  Atalanta's point was finally saved by Marten de Roon in injury time.

Regardless of the result in Bergamo, Lazio should be proud of Ciro Immobile.  Because the captain's one goal made him now score 159 goals for the capital club.

The number of 159 goals has a double meaning.  Because this makes Immobile the all-time top scorer for Biancoceleste.

This record also equals what was made by club legend, Silvio Piola who scored the same goal in the period 1934 to 1943.

Immobile is also something to be proud of.  Because 159 goals were made in just 232 appearances.  Unlike Piola, who needed 243 appearances.

With Serie A only running 11 games, the former Torino player's status could change soon.  He can surpass Silvio Piola's record and lead the club's top scorer alone.

Ciro Immobile hasn't stopped scoring goals yet.  This season alone he has scored nine goals and made him the temporary top scorer in Serie A.

If in the next match he again makes a name on the scoreboard, the 31-year-old bomber stands alone as the top scorer, leaving Silvio Piola and several legends such as Beppe Signori (127 goals), Giorgio Chinaglia (121 goals), and Bruno Giordano (116 goals).
