Lazio Will Not Sell Francesco Acerbi Despite Pressure From Ultras

December 26, 2021

Lazio reportedly has no intention of selling defender Francesco Acerbi despite the intense pressure exerted by their hardline supporters, Ultras who made a statement saying they no longer accept the 33-year-old's presence at Rome.

Francesco Acerbi was attacked by Lazio Ultras a few days ago who released a statement telling him that he is no longer welcome in Rome after his recent actions.  The 'shhh' celebration that he did when his team won 3-1 victory over Genoa last week turned out to be very offensive to their hard-line fans.

The Italian international defender has apologized for his actions via his social media but it was not accepted.  And worse in the victory over Venezia, where he scored again he was accused of not thanking the fans.

However, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, the Biancoceleste have no intention of selling Acerbi despite pressure from the ultras.  President Claudio Lotito, who also has a bad relationship with them, does not want his decisions to be made based on the interference of the club's hard-line supporters and he will not sell the defender as a result of this situation.

Acerbi became one of the key players in Maurizio Sarri's squad even though he had revealed problems in adapting the tactical system applied by the coach.  The club will not sell him so he is still an important part of the defense this season.
