[Official] Caicedo Join Inter From Genoa On Loan

Inter Milan announced good news ahead of the close of the 2022 winter transfer window, where they managed to sign Felipe Caicedo from Genoa.  Caicedo was brought in on loan until the end of the 2021-2022 season

"FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement with Genoa for the transfer of Felipe Salvador Caicedo Corozo," Inter wrote on the club's official website.

"The Ecuadorian striker joins the Nerazzurri on loan until 30 June 2022," added Inter.

Although it was not stated, based on a report from Football Italia, in the negotiations there was a purchase option in the Caicedo loan agreement.  That way, Inter can make it permanent next season if they are satisfied with the striker's performance.

The 33-year-old striker himself is no stranger to the current Nerazzurri coach, namely Simone Inzaghi.  The reason is the two had worked together while at Lazio.

During his time at Lazio under Inzaghi, Caicedo made 139 appearances in all competitions for a total of 6241 minutes.  He notched 33 goals and 15 assists, including several decisive goals in the last minute.  While this season, he has scored nine goals for Genoa.

With his arrival to Inter, the former Espanyol player is predicted to be made a rotational striker by Inzaghi.  He could make his debut with the reigning Italian League champions in the derby match against AC Milan, on Sunday 5 February.

The presence of Caicedo proves how active Inter is in January 2022.  Previously, the Inzaghi troops had brought in Robin Gosens from Atalanta.
