Lazio President Holds Emergency Meeting With Sarri After Their Defeat From Milan

February 12, 2022

Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri is reportedly holding a lengthy meeting with club president Claudio Lotito after being beaten 4-0 by hosts Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Wednesday night.

Corriere dello Sera reports that Lazio president, Claudio Lotito was so unimpressed by what he saw at the San Siro last Wednesday night that he had a lengthy meeting with Maurizio Sarri to discuss the situation.

The news further revealed that both Lotito and the 63-year-old coach were shocked by the way The Aquile were beaten by Milan and the Biancoceleste president wanted an answer to that.  Sarri tried to point out the lack of new signings in the January window, but Lotito did not accept that even though he only signed Jovane Cabral from Sporting last month.

Even so, the relationship between the two is still good and their project is still going according to plan, but extending the coach's contract until 2025 is not a priority for either party at this time.

Currently, the Italian coach is focused on improving the team, while Lotito wants a quick response when his team hosts Bologna in the Serie A continuation which takes place on Saturday (12/02) night.  The Aquile are currently sixth in the table after 24 games played so far in the 2021/22 season, and their concentration is only two competitions away in the league and also the Europa League where they still have to play a play-off against Porto to qualify for the round of 16 Europa League.
