Sarri: "A Good Performance, We Dominated In The First Half, If You Think Three Months Ago Napoli Were Untouchable For Us, But Tonight We Were At A Higher Level And Had More Chances To Score Than Them."

Maurizio Sarri regrets the mistakes made by Lazio both in attack and defense after the 2-1 loss to visitors Napoli in the match which took place on Sunday (27/02) evening local time.  But at the same time, he saw the progress made by his team.

Lazio again swallowed the bitter pill in stoppage time in the match at the Olimpico, before they managed to balance the position after falling behind through Lorenzo Insigne's opener.  Pedro was the scorer for the hosts, but in the last minute of the match, Fabian Ruiz broke the Biancoceleste defense with the winning goal.

Three perfect points take Napoli to the top of the standings with Milan and this weekend the two teams will face each other at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

"A good performance, we dominated in the first half and regret we couldn't keep it at 0-0.  It meant we had to fall behind, but we were able to balance it out but were punished with a trivial error in the 93rd minute," Sarri said via DAZN.

"We tripled our guard down the flanks but got them on the counter-attack and we had a bad defense.

"But if you think three months ago Napoli were untouchable for us, but tonight we were at a higher level and had more chances to score than them."

When the two teams met on November 28 at the Stadio Maradona, Il Partenopei beat the Biancoceleste 4-0 and took a 3-0 lead in the first half.  This defeat left Maurizio Sarri's side further behind in the race for the top four just days after they were knocked out of the Europa League by FC Porto.
