Pedro Makes Record When Napoli Beat Lazio

Lazio winger, Pedro found a bit of happiness in the bitter night that happened at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday (27/02) last night by setting an important record in his career in European football so far.  Maurizio Sarri's team suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Napoli in which the Spaniard contributed the only goal for the hosts.

As reported by Lega Serie A via Twitter, 34-year-old Spanish winger Pedro scored his eighth goal in Serie A this season as Lazio lost to Napoli which was also his 100th goal in Europe's top five leagues.

Pedro Rodriguez was brought on in the second half by coach Maurizio Sarri in the match and he quickly made the difference for the Biancoceleste, giving them an equalizer and a bit of fun before Il Partenopei netted the winner through Fabian Ruiz in stoppage time.

The 34-year-old Spaniard, who is contracted to The Aquile until 2023, has made 35 appearances in all competitions so far in the 2021/22 season with a total of 2335 minutes.  In that period he has scored nine goals and contributed five assists and became one of the important players in Sarri's squad.  He joined the club on a free transfer last summer after ending his contract with city rivals AS Roma.

Meanwhile, the defeat to Il Partenopei made the Biancoceleste's position slump to seventh in the Serie A standings with a collection of 43 points and seven points adrift of fourth place, Juventus after 27 matches played by both teams in this 2021/22 season.
