Ciro Immobile Wins His Fourth Capocannoniere Titles

May 24, 2022

Lazio striker Immobile has broken another record after claiming the top scorer title in Serie A for the fourth time in his career in 2021/22.

Italian striker Immobile, 32, has scored 27 goals in 31 Serie A games this season, beating Dusan Vlahovic. It has been a special season for the Lazio star who has not been affected despite major changes to the system since Maurizio Sarri arrived at the Stadio Olimpico last summer.

As The Laziali reports, the striker is rewriting his name on the history book, becoming the first Italian to win four Capocannoniere titles, surpassing Giuseppe Meazza, Gigi Riva, Michel Platini, and other legendary players. He is now second all-time behind Sweden striker Gunnar Nordahl.

He has now won three Serie A goalscoring titles with Lazio, tying the record set by the Biancoceleste fan-favorite Beppe Signori, who had three times record while playing for the Italian capital club in the early 1990s.

The 32-year-old Italian striker is Biancoceleste's all-time top scorer with 182 goals and is 13th in the Italian Premier League's top scorer list, one goal behind Gabriel Batistuta.
