Pepe Reina Has Decided To Terminate His Contract With Lazio

The Spanish goalkeeper will leave the capital after two seasons and 54 appearances. Sarri is now waiting for two goalkeepers.

Pepe Reina will leave Lazio. The Spanish goalkeeper has decided to terminate his contract with the Biancoceleste, which expires in 2023. A one-season extension is automatically triggered after qualifying for the Europa League, but Reina and Lazio will part ways. The goalkeeper, born in 1982, will return to Spain.

Lazio has parted ways with Strakosha (also expiring) and now finds themselves without a goalkeeper. Biancoceleste continues to negotiate with Atalanta for Carnesecchi, but they are now being asked to complete two deals to give Sarri a new pair of numbers one. Reina joined Lazio from Milan in the summer of 2020. He made 54 appearances in the biancoceleste jersey. In Italy, he also played for Napoli and Milan.

Pepe Reina is one step away from Villarreal. It may be the last of his career for the 39-year-old former Napoli and Liverpool player, who has worn the yellow submarine jersey from 2002 to 2005. With Sergio Asenjo's contract ending, there is still a vacancy that Reina will fill at the pole.
