His Goal Against Bologna Sets Immobile A New Record

August 16, 2022

Ciro Immobile is fast becoming a legend in Lazio and Italian football. Against Bologna yesterday, he carried the team on his shoulders and, as always, led the team to victory with goals. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Lazio captain is collecting records.

He scored in his first league game in 7 years: 6 in the league and 1 in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus. Still, he is the fourth player, like Muzzi, Shevchenko, and Muriel, to consistently score on the first day of the season.

Even the verified Europa League profile celebrated him with a post on their social media about the records:

"New season, same Ciro Immobile.  He scored on Matchday 1 for the fifth consecutive season."

In the end, the goal also saw Immobile score 183 goals in Serie A, surpassing Gabriel Omar Batistuta. 151 of them were on 209 appearances with Lazio. 12th in the all-time Serie A top scorer rankings behind Signori, Gilardino, and Del Piero with 5 goals left to catch.
