Sarri: "I Want My Team To Make 700 Passes Per Game, And I'm Not Suitable For This Type Of Pitch. The Club Should Consider Appointing Another Coach, Or We Have To Play Somewhere Else."

Maurizio Sarri is furious at conditions at the Stadio Olimpico as Lazio drew 0-0 against Udinese on Sunday (16/10), even warning his side that they might need a new coach as his tactics failed to adapt to the conditions on the pitch, especially after Ciro Immobile was injured.

Lazio's four-game winning streak in Serie A has faltered, but they can still keep a clean sheet and are now in their fifth clean sheet not seen since Delio Rossi in 2007 feat.

Both teams had a chance to win at the Stadio Olimpico and even Udinese had two golden chances but unfortunately still hit the crossbar through Lazar Samardzic and Gerard Deulofeu, while The fact that the hosts, Ciro Immobile, had to sub out in the half hour of the first half due to injury. This was a loss for Lazio and the most upsetting for their coach.

"Unfortunately, it happens, you have to get over it, the team worked hard, but we were facing the toughest opponents today, very strong physically and still fresh when we had to play three games in seven days. Then you have to keep playing in a place and such a place would be a big problem," Sarri told DAZN.

Immobile was forced to retire after just 29 minutes with a muscle injury to the back of his left thigh, and when asked if the injury could have been prevented, the manager replied: "This is clear evidence that due to his duties at club and international, Immobile was forced to play too much."

The Italian coach is particularly disturbed by the state of the stadium at the Stadio Olimpico, where Lazio and Roma have already played in Serie A and the Europa League.

"We had prepared a series of moves at the back and then everything was wiped out in the warm-up because when we tried to play with our feet on the pitch, it was like dropping a bomb. I don't know what the president wants to do, maybe he should find another coach because I can't play regularly on a pitch like this, or we have to play somewhere else."

"I'm a coach and I want my team to make 700 passes per game, and I'm not suitable for this type of pitch. So if this problem persists, the club should consider appointing another coach."
