January 05, 2023

Lazio failed to open their campaign in the 2022/23 Italian League after the 2022 World Cup with a win, they lost to Lecce on Wednesday (04/01/23).

In this match, Lazio led early on through Ciro Immobile's goals. However, Lecce managed to regain the lead in the second half through Gabriel Strefezza and Lorenzo Colombo. Because of this loss, Lazio failed to overtake Inter Milan in the standings and was forced to settle for being fifth in the 2022/23 Serie A standings.

Since the first half began, Lazio immediately took the lead in attempting to attack and destroy the defense of Lecce. Lazio's attack then resulted in a goal in the 14th minute. It was Ciro Immobile who was able to score after taking advantage of Casale's pass. Until the first half was over, Lazio still had a lead of 1-0 over Lecce.

At the start of the second half, Lecce carried out a series of attacks. And it only came to fruition in the 57th minute through Gabriel Strefezza. After the equalizer, both teams pushed to score additional goals and attempted to attack again.

Unfortunately for Lazio, Lecce became the team that managed to take advantage of this game and scored their second goal. It was achieved through Lorenzo Colombo taking advantage of Federico Di Francesco's assist.  The score was 2-1 for Lecce.
