If Sassuolo Faces Relegation, Lazio Will Make Efforts To Secure Josh Doig

Lazio are reportedly interested in acquiring Sassuolo's Josh Doig, a full-back who is set to be available at a reduced price due to his current club's looming relegation threat. The Italian side has been linked to various player transfers leading up to the summer transfer window.

Josh Doig, hailing from Scotland, began his career at Hearts before moving to the Hibernian Peninsula in 2019. He ventured into Italian football with Hellas Verona in 2022 amid the club's financial turmoil and later joined Sassuolo in January of that year.

Unfortunately, Doig's time at Sassuolo coincides with their struggles, as they currently sit 19th in Serie A and face the prospect of relegation to Serie B. This situation has prompted an exodus of players from Sassuolo, catching Lazio's attention.

As per La Repubblica, Lazio is planning to secure Doig's services this summer, leveraging Sassuolo's relegation situation to negotiate a favorable price despite the player being under contract until 2028.

The report mentions Lazio's long-standing interest in Doig since his time at Verona, where he showcased notable performances. Doig's versatility as a left-back, capable of playing as a wing-back or center-back in a 3-4-2-1 formation, aligns with the tactical preferences of Lazio's manager, Igor Tudor.
