[Official] Correa Begins New Chapter At Botafogo After Mixed Inter Spell
Joaquin Correa’s journey in Italian football has reached its conclusion, as the Argentine forward has officially departed Inter Milan and is set for a new adventure in Brazil. After four seasons in the Nerazzurri colors, Correa will continue his career at Botafogo, signing a contract that will keep him at the Brazilian club until the end of 2027.
Correa, known as “Tucu” after his home province of Tucumán, makes the move as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Inter. The 30-year-old attacker, who also enjoyed notable spells with Lazio, Sevilla, and Sampdoria, leaves European football behind after a decade of experience at the highest level. Botafogo welcomed him with open arms, unveiling him as their newest signing and confirming that he will wear the number 30 shirt. He will also have the opportunity to represent the club in the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.
The move comes after a challenging stint at Inter, where Correa struggled to meet the expectations set by his transfer from Lazio in 2021. Despite his talent and experience—including 19 caps and four goals for the Argentine national team, and a Copa América title in 2021—Correa’s performances for the Nerazzurri often fell short. This led to a lukewarm relationship with the Inter faithful, many of whom greeted his exit with relief on social media.
Correa himself took to Instagram to say farewell: “Ciao Inter, ciao Nerazzurri! I leave with many good memories and also difficult moments that have helped me grow both as a player and as a person. I am confident the club will continue to win trophies and make history, as we have tried to do together in these years. Good luck!”
