Sarri Returns To Lead Lazio Into A New Ambitious Journey Together
Lazio fans have reason to celebrate as Maurizio Sarri is set to return as head coach for the 2025/26 season, marking a highly anticipated reunion between the tactician and the Biancoceleste. After parting ways just a year ago, both parties have now agreed to embark on a new journey together, fueled by optimism and shared ambitions.
According to the latest updates from Football Italia, Sarri has reached an agreement with Lazio on a two-year contract, running until June 30, 2027. There is also an option to extend the partnership for an additional year if performance targets are met, ensuring long-term stability at the club.
The final details were settled in a series of meetings over the past two days, with only the official announcement pending from club management.
Sarri previously stepped down from his role in March 2024, midway through the 2023/24 campaign. His exit led to a period of transition, with Igor Tudor taking over until the end of the season and Marco Baroni managing the team throughout the last term.
Despite Baroni’s efforts, Lazio narrowly missed out on European qualification, finishing seventh in Serie A with 65 points. The club’s leadership is now turning back to Sarri, hoping his tactical expertise and experience can restore Lazio’s presence on the continental stage.
During his initial tenure, Sarri consistently led Lazio into European competitions, guiding them to the Europa League in 2022/23 and the Champions League the following season. Supporters and management alike are hopeful that his return will spark another era of success for the Capital Eagles.
