Brocchi: "Lazio Have Maintained A Very Good Squad And Can Rely On The Presence Of Maurizio Sarri, Who Has Always Played Excellent Football."

The new Serie A season is almost here. With preseason matches is finished, attention is shifting to the first matchdays of the campaign. Former Lazio midfielder Cristian Brocchi shared his thoughts on the coming year during an interview with Radio Serie A, offering his personal ranking of the teams to watch, and he did not forget about the Biancoceleste.

Brocchi believes that Inter and Napoli start with an advantage. “I see Inter and Napoli at the forefront because they have a solid core and some solid players who will be back together right away,” he explained. Right behind them, he placed Milan, who he feels can focus fully on one competition and make use of their talented squad.

Juventus, Atalanta, and Roma come next in his view. Brocchi pointed out that these sides are still in transition, with new coaches who will need time to settle and shape their squads. “Juve have a bit of an advantage because Tudor already knows the club very well and experienced it at the end of last season as a coach,” he added.

When it came to Lazio, Brocchi offered words of encouragement. “Lazio have maintained a very good squad and can rely on the presence of Maurizio Sarri, who has always played excellent football,” said the former midfielder. For him, the stability provided by Sarri could give Lazio an edge compared to rivals who are still adjusting.

Brocchi also highlighted Fiorentina, praising Stefano Pioli’s return to the club. “I like Pioli’s Fiorentina for two reasons: first, because last year they already had the potential to be a top four team, but then for various reasons they failed to achieve that goal; second, because of Pioli’s presence, who returns with a different value than in his first spell in purple, having won and gained further experience abroad.”

Bologna was another team mentioned. Despite many expecting a decline last year after Thiago Motta’s departure, Brocchi noted that Italiano has continued to improve the side. He warned, however, that the Rossoblù must now deal with new expectations, since performing well is no longer a surprise but something fans will demand every week.

Finally, Brocchi spoke about Roma. “Gasperini did a wonderful job in Bergamo, now I want to see him away from ‘home’ in a special place. If things go well for them, it will be fun,” he concluded.
