Ianni: "We Did Too Little To Win It. We Should Have Done More. It’s A Shame We Disappointed The Fans Who Turned Up In Such Large Numbers."
Lazio suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Sassuolo in their Serie A clash on Sunday evening (Sept 14) at the Mapei Stadium. The decisive goal came from Gambian forward Alieu Fadera, leaving the Biancocelesti without points.
Head coach Maurizio Sarri did not attend the post-match press conference, leaving the stadium early due to family matters. In his place, assistant coach Marco Ianni addressed the media.
“We did too little to win it,” Ianni admitted, quoted by La Lazio Siamo Noi. “There were moments when we had control, but our play was too slow.”
He also highlighted Lazio’s lack of cutting edge up front. “We created far too few chances. We should have done more. It’s a shame we disappointed the fans who turned up in such large numbers,” he added.
This defeat adds to Lazio’s poor start to the season, with two losses in their first three Serie A matches. The team has also endured a difficult summer, hindered by a transfer embargo that prevented Sarri from adding new signings
