New Blow For Lazio As Taty Castellanos Joins Growing Injury List
Lazio’s injury crisis has deepened after Taty Castellanos reportedly picked up a muscle problem during training, adding to an already troubling situation for Maurizio Sarri’s squad. The Argentine striker’s setback has further reduced Lazio’s attacking options at a crucial stage of the season.
According to reports from Il Messaggero and Corriere dello Sport, Castellanos felt discomfort during Friday’s afternoon training session and was absent from the following day’s activities at Formello. The player is expected to undergo medical examinations to assess the extent of the issue, with early indications suggesting a potential absence of up to three weeks.
The timing could not be worse for Sarri, who is already facing major selection problems across multiple areas of the pitch. In midfield, Nicolo Rovella remains sidelined with a groin injury, while Fisayo Dele Bashiru is still recovering from a muscle strain. Matias Vecino’s return also remains uncertain, as the Uruguayan continues to struggle despite recent signs of progress.
The defensive situation is equally concerning. Both Luca Pellegrini and Adam Marusic suffered knocks during the recent victory over Genoa, while Samuel Gigot was unregistered. To make matters worse, Boulaye Dia has once again been troubled by ankle problems that forced him to withdraw from Senegal’s national team.
With Castellanos now joining the list of absentees, Sarri finds himself short of reliable attacking options. Should Dia also fail to recover in time, Lazio could be left without a natural striker, a scenario that would complicate their preparations for the upcoming fixtures in Serie A.
The coming days will be crucial in determining the extent of Castellanos’ injury, as Lazio hope to avoid yet another long term setback in what has become one of the most challenging periods of Sarri’s tenure.
