Pedro: "This Will Be My Last Season At Lazio. I Want To Enjoy Every Match And Leave The Club With A Great Achievement."
Lazio’s Spanish veteran Pedro Rodriguez has officially confirmed that the 2025/26 campaign will be his final season with the Biancoceleste. Yet before saying goodbye, the experienced winger has set his sights on one final mission: to help Lazio finish the season with a major achievement and secure a place in Europe.
The 38-year-old forward, one of the most decorated players of his generation, has lifted every major trophy available to a professional footballer, from the World Cup and European Championship with Spain to the Champions League and Premier League at club level. But as the years advance, the physical demands of Serie A are becoming increasingly challenging, and Pedro knows his journey in Rome is approaching its conclusion.
Having joined Lazio from AS Roma in 2021, Pedro quickly won over the Biancoceleste faithful with his experience and creativity. Last season, he stood out as one of the team’s most consistent performers, even netting a decisive brace against Inter Milan that played a role in Napoli’s eventual Scudetto triumph. That form earned him a one-year contract extension, but now both player and club agree that this season will mark the natural end of an extraordinary chapter.
Following Lazio’s draw against Pisa, Pedro spoke openly to Sky Sport Italia about his future. “I always want to help the team. This will be my last season at Lazio. I want to enjoy every match and leave the club with a great achievement,” he said with a smile that reflected both pride and nostalgia.
The former Barcelona and Chelsea star also shared his ambition for the months ahead. Pedro wants to play in Europe, and he believes Lazio deserve to be part of European competition as well. If Europe is his personal goal, then it must also become Lazio’s collective ambition. “We have to keep improving, working hard, and aiming higher together. It feels good to be part of this group,” he said.
When asked about what comes next, Pedro admitted that his future remains uncertain. “How many more years will I play? I don’t know,” he laughed. “Every day I get closer to retirement.”
As the curtain slowly begins to fall on his remarkable career, Pedro’s final goal is clear: to leave Lazio with the same class, professionalism, and passion that have defined him throughout two decades at the top of world football.
