Lazio Monitor Dortmund's Talent Filippo Mané For A Future Investment In Defence
Lazio are continuing their scouting work during the January 2026 transfer window, and the club is reportedly paying close attention to the German league as they plan for the future of their defence. Among the names being evaluated is said to be Borussia Dortmund’s young Italian centre back, Filippo Mané.
Born in 2005, Mané is viewed as a long term investment rather than an instant solution. Lazio’s interest also arrives at a sensitive moment, with Alessio Romagnoli’s situation drawing attention in the background. Recent reports in Italy say Romagnoli has been pushing for a move to Al Sadd, and he did not train with the rest of the group amid the transfer discussion.
Mané is an Italian centre back who moved to Germany in 2022 after leaving Sampdoria’s youth system to join Borussia Dortmund. From Lazio’s perspective, his Under 21 status is also an advantage because it would not weigh heavily on the club’s spending framework.
Although he is still early in his career, Mané has started to collect meaningful experience. This season he has featured in five matches for a total of 266 minutes, and one appearance stands out in particular: he started a Champions League match against Inter, a clear sign he has already been trusted on a big stage.
Physically, he is built for the role, standing at 188 cm and playing right footed. He has also represented Italy at Under 21 level, with four appearances, which adds another layer of credibility to the profile Lazio are monitoring. As for his current market value, it is reported to be around €2.5 million, a figure that matches the idea of a strategic, low risk investment with upside.
