[Official] Lazio Have Secured Their New Backup Goalkeeper: Edoardo Motta
Lazio have officially completed the permanent signing of goalkeeper Edoardo Motta from Reggiana, a move that puts an end to the recent rumors and adds another option to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.
The deal is worth around €1 million. Half of that amount will be forwarded to Juventus, while the remaining part goes to Reggiana, the club Motta has been representing before making the switch to Rome.
This transfer also comes as a direct response to Christos Mandas leaving on loan to Bournemouth until the end of the season. With Mandas temporarily out of the picture, Lazio needed to fill the vacancy quickly to keep the goalkeeping department balanced for the months ahead.
Motta has agreed to a long term contract that runs until 30 June 2030, a clear sign that Lazio see him as more than just an emergency solution. The club believes the former Juventus goalkeeper still has significant room to grow and can develop into an important asset over time.
After gaining experience away from Turin, Motta continued his progress at Reggiana and now gets the opportunity to take a major step up in his career. He is viewed as a modern goalkeeper, valued not only for sharp reactions and athletic saves, but also for his ability to handle the ball comfortably, an aspect that can help Lazio when building play from the back.
For Lazio, the signing fits into a broader approach of investing in younger players with potential, while also ensuring immediate squad depth. Motta arrives with the chance to prove himself at a higher level and to offer the club a reliable option for Serie A and any additional competitions in the long run.
