[Official] West Ham Confirm Castellanos Signing From Lazio
West Ham United have officially announced the signing of Argentina striker ValentÃn Taty Castellanos from Lazio, closing a move that had been building for days and is now complete.
Castellanos leaves Rome after a Lazio spell that started in the summer of 2023, when the club brought him in from New York City FC. He began as a backup option behind Ciro Immobile, but his role grew over time, especially after Igor Tudor took charge in March 2024.
In the 2024-2025 campaign, Castellanos remained a regular name in Lazio’s attack under Marco Baroni. This season, however, his position became less secure under Maurizio Sarri, with reports suggesting the coach did not see him as the ideal fit for his system.
West Ham confirmed the striker has signed a four and a half year contract, with an option for an extra year, meaning the deal can run until 06 2030. While the English club did not publicly confirm the transfer fee, multiple reports in Italy and the UK have placed the deal in the region of 29 to 30 million euros.
Shortly after the announcement, Castellanos posted a farewell message to Lazio supporters on social media. In a warm and respectful note, he thanked the club, his teammates, the staff, and especially the fans, saying he leaves with pride after giving everything and that he will always remain a Lazio supporter at heart.
Castellanos departs Formello after two and a half seasons, with 98 appearances across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists, a solid return for a striker who experienced different roles and systems during his time in Rome.
