Lazio Still Can Not Make A Comeback Win In 2025 To 2026

February 27, 2026

Lazio are struggling with a very specific weakness this season: they cannot turn games around once they fall behind. A statistic shared by Radio Laziale on social media claims Maurizio Sarri’s side have not won a single match from a losing position in the 2025 to 2026 campaign. Even more worrying, Lazio have gone one goal down ten times, but managed to avoid defeat only twice, collecting just two points from those situations.

It is a brutal pattern because it forces Lazio into a narrow way of winning matches. If they do not score first, the margin collapses. Radio Laziale’s numbers suggest the team simply does not have the tools, or the clarity, to chase games and flip the scoreline when the opponent sits deep or the match becomes more chaotic.

The same report points out this has been a problem for more than a season. Even last year, Lazio were not a reliable comeback team, and the lack of resilience when trailing has carried over into this campaign, becoming part of the team’s identity in the worst possible way.

The last time Lazio actually won a match after conceding first dates back to October 6, 2024, when Empoli took the lead through Sebastiano Esposito before Lazio responded with goals from Mattia Zaccagni and Pedro to win 2 to 1 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Since that night, Lazio have repeatedly failed to find the decisive push once they go behind, and that drought has now stretched beyond a full year in competitive matches, according to the same coverage.

Interestingly, the picture improves sharply when the script is reversed. In 2025 to 2026, Lazio have taken the lead first 13 times, and the outcomes are far stronger: eight wins and five draws, which equals 29 points. In other words, Lazio tend to protect advantages well, but rarely have a second plan when the game demands a comeback.

For Sarri, that is a clear warning for the run in. If Lazio want to stay in the European race, they need more than control and structure. They need a response mechanism when things go wrong, because the numbers show that once Lazio fall behind, the match is usually already slipping away.
