[Official] Immobile Makes Surprise Move To Paris FC As Bologna Spell Ends After Six Months
The January 2026 transfer window closed with a headline few saw coming. Veteran striker Ciro Immobile is leaving Bologna FC 1909 after a short stint and has completed a move to Paris FC, stepping into a new challenge in Ligue 1.
Paris FC confirmed the signing in an official announcement, describing Immobile as a major name in European football and referencing the milestones that made him a legend at S.S. Lazio, including his 2020 European Golden Shoe.
The contract details have been reported in two ways. Paris FC state that Immobile has signed until the end of the season with an option for an additional year. Meanwhile, Football Italia reports an 18 month agreement running through the summer of 2027, which effectively aligns with a deal containing an extension clause.
The mechanics of the transfer are also interesting. Football Italia notes that Bologna are not expected to receive a fee, largely because they signed him on a free and his contract situation made a major payment unlikely. That context helps explain why a striker with Immobile’s profile could move in a deal that felt more like a smart financial reset than a traditional blockbuster transfer.
On the pitch, the numbers at Bologna never took off. Football Italia reports he made nine appearances under coach Vincenzo Italiano, almost all from the bench, and did not score. Paris FC, however, are clearly betting on experience, leadership, and finishing instincts returning with a fresh environment and a clear role in their project. Sporting director Marco Neppe highlighted Immobile’s competitive edge and personality as key factors behind the move.
For Lazio supporters, it is still a striking image: a former captain who became synonymous with goals in Rome is now set for a late career chapter in France. For Immobile, it is another stop outside Italy after previous spells with Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla FC, and BeÅŸiktaÅŸ J.K.. And for Paris FC, it is a statement signing aimed at giving their Ligue 1 journey a sharper edge up front.
