[Official] Lazio Sign Blaz Kovac From NS Mura At The End Of Transfer Windows
S.S. Lazio have confirmed the arrival of Blaž Kovač, announcing the permanent acquisition of the defender from NS Mura through an official club statement.
The announcement itself was brief and direct, with Lazio confirming they have definitively acquired the sporting rights to the player’s contract from Mura. Still, the profile is an eye catching one. Kovač is a Slovenian central defender born in 2009, and he already has a taste of senior football despite his age.
Physically, he stands out immediately. Kovač is listed at 1.92 metres tall and plays as a centre back, with his footedness recorded as right. At first team level, he has already made four league appearances for Mura in the Slovenian top division, all from the bench, adding up to 98 minutes on the pitch. He has also featured regularly at youth international level, earning six appearances for Slovenia U17.
In Slovenia, the transfer has been framed as a meaningful move for both clubs. Nogomania reported that Mura could earn up to half a million euros in total, including bonuses. Mura president Robert Kuzmič also described the move as a milestone, presenting it as proof that the club’s youth focused strategy is working, with a very young debutant now earning a pathway to one of Italy’s major clubs after consistent development work behind the scenes.
For Lazio, this deal reads as a clear investment choice rather than a quick fix. The club are adding a high ceiling defender to their pipeline, one who already has the frame for senior football and a growing résumé at club and international youth level. The next step will be his adaptation to the Italian environment and how Lazio choose to manage his development route inside their youth structure.
