Maurizio Sarri Will Try To Convince Joaquin Correa To Stay At Lazio

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri is rumored to be trying to convince Joaquin Correa to stay at the Italian capital club. The Argentina international had expressed his desire to leave the Olimpico this summer.

According to reports by Italian newspaper La Gazetta Dello Sport, 26-year-old Argentine striker Joaquin Correa appeared at Formello's training center on Saturday (31/07) ahead of Lazio's departure for the second phase of pre-season training in Marienfeld, Germany.

His presence at the training session last Saturday local time was uncertain considering he had asked to leave the club at the end of last season. Further reports reveal that coach Maurizio Sarri will try to convince the 26-year-old forward to stay as he believes the player will fit into his 4-3-3 system.

The 62-year-old coach also doesn't want to be bothered looking for another striker in the market this summer. Meanwhile, the president of the Biancoceleste, Claudio Lotito, has set a transfer value of 35 to 40 million Euros for Correa's services but interested clubs do not seem willing to fulfill this request this summer.

At the moment it is reported that the player has not changed his mind but there is a chance for Sarri to convince him. Throughout the 2020/21 season, Correa made 38 appearances and scored 11 goals in all competitions for The Aquile.
