Lazio Squad Will Return To Training On December 30

The Lazio squad will reportedly return to their training center in Formello on December 30 for their first training session after the Christmas break.  Maurizio Sarri's team is scheduled to have their first match in 2022 against Empoli.

According to reports from Italian media, LazioNews24 revealed that previously the Lazio squad was scheduled to return to Formello on Wednesday 29 December but coach Maurizio Sarri has decided to give his squad one more day to relax and rest with their families.

The Biancoceleste will return on Thursday this week and Sarri hopes that his signature striker, Ciro Immobile will be able to join the team, but it all depends on the results of the Covid tests that have been carried out previously.

Two other regular players who still have to recover from their injuries are Francesco Acerbi and Elseid Hysaj.  The Italian defender has a slight problem with his hamstring in his left thigh while the Albanian full-back has injured his right adductor.

The Aquile's opening match in 2022 is against Empoli which will take place on January 6 before traveling to Milan to face Simone Inzaghi's men on January 9, just three days apart.

Meanwhile, the Italian capital team was armed with two wins in the previous Serie A matches against Genoa and Venezia with a score of 3-1 each.  They are now in eighth place in the Serie A standings after 19 games played in the 2021/22 season.
