Issa Diop Is On Lazio Radar If They Fail To Get Romagnoli

Lazio restarted from the central defender. The departure of Luiz Felipe and the possible departure of Francesco Acerbi are both urging Lazio to look for at least a few center-backs next season.

Negotiations with Alessio Romagnoli appear to be deadlocked: the gap between Lazio's offer and the demand of the Milan player remains wide. Next week, both parties will meet again; Lazio wants to please their coach, but at the same time they have to respect certain economic criteria. Lazio executives are targeting wage cuts, and for this reason, which is why Lotito and Tare are targeting several young defenders.

In addition to the Spaniard Victor Chust, Lazio follows Issa Diop, the central defender of West Ham. The center-back's contract expires in 2023, but the English club could extend it for another year. Corriere dello Sport reckons that the Italian giants are eyeing a summer swoop for the former Toulouse man because of the physicality that he would add to their backline.

Issa Diop was born on January 9, 1997, he turned 25 on the same day as Lazio's anniversary. The player has struggled for consistent minutes in London this season. A total of just 26 appearances, including 13 Premier League appearances (10 starts), seven Europa League starts, and six domestic cups.

The defender grew up in the youth ranks in Toulouse and went through the full journey from U-16 to U-21 with the French national team. After three seasons in Ligue 1 in a Toulouse shirt, Issa Diop joined West Ham. The English club paid him 25 million euros in the summer of 2018. Diop could be interested in a move to Lazio as he wants to restart his career after a turbulent season under David Moyes.
