Lazio Is Monitoring Birindelli From Pisa

Elseid Hysaj is set to leave Lazio this summer after a disappointing season in the Italian capital, with Pisa talent Samuele Birindelli likely to replace the defender.

Albanian defender Elseid Hysaj, 28, joined Lazio on a free transfer last summer, signing a four-year contract and returning to head coach Maurizio Sarri. However, things have not gone according to plan for the player, who often fails to produce convincing performances, limiting his playing time in the second half of 2021/22.

The latest reports from Corriere dello Sport suggest the Biancoceleste are considering what to do with Hysaj and are keeping a close eye on one of his replacements, Samuele Birindelli. The 22-year-old Italian has been impressive in Pisa, playing at both left-back and right-back.

The player is the son of former Juventus full-back Alessandro Birindelli, a 22-year-old who is considered tactically flexible and affordable, with a transfer value of 4-5 million euros. Since joining in 2016/17, Samuele has made 148 appearances for the Serie B club, scoring seven league goals.

In addition to the Aquile, Sassuolo and Hellas Verona are also reportedly looking to sign Birindelli this summer, meaning Maurizio Sarri's side will have to work hard to beat their competitors.
