[Champions League] Lazio Has Been Drawn Together With Atletico Madrid, Feyenoord, And Celtic In Group E

In this season's Champions League Group E, Lazio will meet Dutch champions Feyenoord, Spanish giant Atletico Madrid, and Scottish champions Celtic.

The Biancoceleste will be hoping for a far stronger showing in this season's European competition, despite being assigned to a potentially tricky group.

It is a very evenly-matched group for Lazio, but they will fancy their chances of progressing to the knockout stages.

Lazio last competed in the Champions League in 2020-21, finishing second in their group before falling to Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 in a 6-2 aggregate loss.

Lazio's last match with Atletico Madrid was in the 2011/12 Europa League when Los Colchoneros won 4-1 on aggregate. The two sides have never met in the Champions League, and the match will be a mark for Simeone's return to Rome - he played for Lazio from 1999 to 2003.

Lazio and Celtic have already met in European competition, with Celtic winning 2-1 at home and away in the 2019-20 Europa League group rounds.

Finally, Lazio also has met with Feyenoord last season. Lazio were eliminated from the Europa League after losing 1-0 away to Feyenoord and after defeating them 4-2 at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the group.
