Maurizio Sarri has voiced his concerns ahead of the summer window as his side risks losing the services of several key players. The Italian boss also opened up about his debut season with Lazio.

Lazio finished fifth in the final Serie A table of the season with a 3-3 draw with Verona in their final game on Saturday night (21/05). They are one point ahead of their city rivals Roma.

Despite adjustment problems at the start of the season, the Italian capital showed in the second half of the season that the manager's system was working. Sarri has spoken about the difficulties he faces as the new manager of the Biancoceleste.

"It was a tough road, a lot of difficulties, and then the will of the players allowed us to grow," the coach said via DAZN.

The 63-year-old Italian coach has expressed concern over several players who could leave him in the coming months.

"We'll see how it goes next year because we risk losing some players, many of whom are out of contract. We have a lot of interested players. The risk of starting from scratch is possible."

One player Sarri hopes to keep is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has been heavily linked with moves to Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Juventus in recent months.

"We have to discuss the future with the club, I can contribute and from a technical point of view I would very much like to start over with Sergej."

Finally, Sarri looks back on his debut season with Lazio.

"I'm happy that the team can get stronger at some point this season. I also see that they are eager to share their belief in football. Tactically, we need to find solutions to our defensive weaknesses."

Meanwhile, Lazio has scored 77 goals in Serie A this season, second among all participating teams, with only Inter Milan scoring more with 84.
